CHERRY FINISHES THIRD AT MOTOR MILE SPEEDWAY

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 2, 2008) – Michael Cherry’s successful transition from dirt track racing to asphalt continued in the Blue Ridge Copier 150 at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va. on Saturday night. The Drive for Diversity program rookie finished third in the Late Model feature event. "It’s a great feeling to get this first top-five at Motor Mile," said Cherry.. "We’re getting stronger every week and I can’t thank the Drive for Diversity program enough for the opportunity to work with Frank Deiny and all of the guys at FDJ Motorsports." Cherry qualified third in the No. 34 FDJ Motorsports Chevrolet Impala, and worked his way into the second spot before settling in for his first top-three finish of the season. The third-place finish moved Cherry up three spots, to seventh-place, in the Motor Mile Speedway Late Model point standings. Cherry, of Valrico, Fla., will be back on track at Motor Mile Speedway on Saturday, June 14.

DRIVE FOR DIVERSITY NOTES:
Jesus Hernandez and Jonathan Smith were on track Saturday in the NASCAR Camping World Series East Strutmasters.com 150 at South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Va. Hernandez finished 15th in the No. 11 Dale Earnhardt Inc. Chevrolet after getting caught up in a wreck on the white flag lap of the green-white-checker finish. Hernandez qualified seventh, and had been running in the top-10 for most of the 150 lap event before the last-lap crash. Smith finished 18th in his No. 21 gpsfootprints Dodge after qualifying 24th. Smith, driving for TW Motorsports with Sean Watts, was forced to pit early after damage to the left-front quarter panel led to a flat tire. Smith was able to work his way well into the top-15 before getting caught up in a late race incident that further damaged the already battered race car. Despite the damage, Smith hung on for a top-20 finish.
